Islamic academy organises 1st Khatm ceremony in Abuja

An Islamic academy based in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Manar Assabil, has organised a ceremony to mark its first Khatm (complete recitation of the Holy Qur’an) by its students.

Speaking at the event at the weekend, the Director of the academy, Fatima Munzali Jibril, said the ceremony was a response to parents’ enthusiasm and fulfilment of a desirable religious expectation notwithstanding that some of the students had completed and silently celebrated the Khatm.

She congratulated the Khatm students for attaining the milestone while charging them to always live according to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an.

She said, “The Khatm students will continue their memorisation programme and other courses in the school, including the Islamic Advanced Programme.’

In the same vein, the guest speaker at the event, Dr Sani Ahmad Sufi, charged well-to-do Muslims and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to initiate the establishment of more Islamic schools and support the existing ones to enable them to function optimally.

A parent, Yusuf Ibrahim Yakasai, said with his background in teaching in Islamiyya schools at a very young age he felt relieved and pleased with the improvements he witnessed in his children just two weeks after enrolling them in the academy.
