Man jailed 2 years for stealing well cover

An area court in Jos, Plateau State, on Wednesday sentenced an unemployed man, Samuel John, to 24 months imprisonment for stealing a window frame and the cover of a well.

The Judge, Mr Daniel Damulak, sentenced John following a guilty plea to trespass and theft but gave the convict an option of N40,000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gukwat, told the court that the case was reported to the police on May 7, 2022, by Mr Njoku Franklyn, that John trespassed into his uncompleted building and stole a window frame and a well cover.

The prosecutor said during police investigation, the convict pleaded guilty to the crime and admitted that he sold the stolen items. (NAN)
