Speaking to Daily Trust in Uturu, Abia State, the President General of Uturu Development Association UDA, Chief Chidi Uturu Ogbaegbe, said the women had resorted to God, as the only the power that can help to save the community.

According to him, the entire Uturu community is happy that their mothers are organising themselves together for prayers.

He said God will grant their prayers because it appears , the town is hopeless and helpless.

He said that prayer session was timely and opt to ward off the evil acts by the killers and kidnappers in the town.

“With God ,all things are possible and we believe that He will hear mothers prayers and save us from this calamities ‘ he said.

He said only few youths and their leaders are allowed to be in the prayer session to avoid unforeseen circumstances.

“I am happy the youth leader has retracted his earlier post and they have selected few youths to join other security officers and personnel to guide and regulate the movement of our dear mothers,” he said.

He urged the women to be peaceful through out the exercise.

Ogbagbe also enjoined all to remain peaceful as God will certainly hear their prayers.

Speaking on the incessant killings and kidnappings of Uturu sons and daughters plying the road , one of the youths leaders, Comrade Ifeanyi Orji, said it was sad that the activities have been going on over two years and the state government was not doing anything.

He regretted that despite the road being the only road linking the State university, little or no attention is paid to secure the students and others.

Also speaking on the matter, Mrs Uchenna Nkechi, a mother, said the prayer had become imperative because there is nothing they can do apart from seeking God’s face.

According to her, Uturu town had lost many people and money as result of the criminal activities along the road and it appears that government is not disturbed.

“This time, we are reporting our case to God and there is nothing we can do rather than seeking God’s intervention to save us. Uturu – Okigwe road is the only road linking Uturu town with other towns. It is sad that government is not doing anything even when our children in the university have became victims severally,” she said.
