A 51-year-old man has begun a road journey on foot, from Bauchi to Lagos, in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2023 presidential ambition.
Usman Adamu, who is also the Madakin Fawa of Nigerian Butchers, reached Kafanchan in Southern Kaduna after trekking for four days.
He said he decided to cover the 1,079.9km road distance between Bauchi and Lagos to express his support for Tinubu and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Daily Trust Saturday recalled that Hashim Suleiman had embarked on a similar long-distance trek in 2015 from Lagos to Abuja for President Muhammadu Buhari while Buba Dahiru trekked from Gombe to Abuja after Buhari’s victory.
Also, a handful of youth embarked on a solidarity trek across the country in support of their candidates.
Speaking with the Daily Trust correspondent in Kafanchan, Usman said he was not in any way sponsored by any politician, adding, “I am passionately doing everything with my own money, even though I am receiving some cash and kind donations from well-wishers I meet on my way.”
Usman, who vowed not to enter any vehicle, said he once hopped on an okada to pass a very risky area as he was told that his life was in danger if he risked passing there on foot.
