Open letter to all presidential aspirants

The current President, Muhammadu Buhari signed the Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty on climate change on December 12, 2015, recognising the priority of safeguarding the country against climate change ‘sdevastating effects.

As the 2023 election is approaching, I am extremely concerned about the succeeding years as a climate activist worried about the future of the country. The country needs a leader who is willing to push harder to ensure the success of the sustainable development goals and use the plans on the table effectively.

To avoid catastrophic damages, the country requires a leader who is ready to make climate change his number one priority. This includes rapid green transitions and many more that would save millions of lives and houses in the country.

I will be delighted to see that plans for the climate crisis are included in campaigns and manifestoes of the various political parties. It will help raise awareness on climate change and give hope for the possibility of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals’ success.
