Britarch Schools Lugbe, Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) and Pacesetters’ School Wuye were the top three schools at the just concluded maiden edition of K.I.O Consult Abuja Inter-Secondary Schools Athletics Championship (AISSAC).
To emerge overall winners, Britarch garnered six gold and two silver medals at the one-day cadet athletics championship at the MKO Abiola national stadium Abuja.

While NTIC came in second with three gold and three silver medals, Pacesetters placed third with three gold and one bronze medal.
The championship was attended by over 700 athletes drawn from 14 secondary schools in the FCT.
The students competed in 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x 100m Relay, 4x 400m Relay, 4x 400m (Mixed Relay), Long Jump and Shot Put.
Britarch School won the boys 100m, 400m and Long Jump events. Tobenna Nwafor finished the 100m sprint at 11.75 secs, while Odida Daniel won the 400m race at 55.64 secs. Jumilo Wahab won the Long Jump contest with a leap of 5.89m.
Eric Makwe of Pacesetters’ school won the 200m boys race in a time of 24.16secs.
Zainab Idris Abubakar of NTIC won the 100m girls race in a time of 13.02 secs while later in the day, she added the long jump gold to her collection, leaping a distance of 4.77m .
Miracle Ezechukwu of NTIC won the 200m girls race in a time of 27.12 seconds while Chineye Okuefuna of GAAT International School won the 400m girls quarter mile race in a time of 73.67.
Meanwhile, the initiator of the programme, Kesiena Oghoghorie assured that the next edition of the competition aimed at discovering and nurturing talented athletes in schools will be bigger and better.
