The Kano State Government under the state’s Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) has trained 20 Community Traders Association and 270 agricultural extension agents on modern agricultural processes, especially regenerative agricultural practices, to address the issue of climate change in the state as a measure to attained a viable improved agricultural business in the state.
Addressing participants during the pre-season training of trainers organized by Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA), the SAA and KSADP project coordinator, Abdulrasheed Hamisu Kofar Mata, stated that, the training is in conformity with the project’s aim of ensuring a sustainable boost in agricultural productions that will in turn create a sustainable increase in the farmers ability to improve their agro-productivity and increase in their earnings.

He explained that the project which is in its second year will be spread across all the 44 local governments of the state adding that it is bound on the participants to be committed in working with farmers and the traders to ensure the project’s target has been achieved.
He said the project funded through a loan facility from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and a grant component from Live and Livelihood Funds (LLF) has invested in the development of sustainable agro-production system in the state,
On behalf of the extension agents, Malam Hudu Bello Idris, said the training is timely as the wet-season is fast approaching in the state.
Idris said in the past two years the project has provided them with a lot of modern techniques which they have been transmitting to farmers adding that the positive impact is indeed very encouraging.
