Karate: Team Gombe scoops 15 medals to emerge overall best in Northeast

Gombe State players in a just concluded maiden edition of Northeast Regional Karate Championship hosted by the state have emerged overall best in all categories after winning 15 medals.

The two-day event, which took place at Gombe Multipurpose indoor hall was attended by players, coaches and officials from different states of the region.

According to the Information Officer of the Gombe State Sports Commission, Mark Nuhu Mabudi, at the end of the championship, Team Gombe scooped 15 medals in total with 5 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals to emerge overall best.

The names of Gombe players who participated and won medals include, 60kg-Mujahid Ahmad Usaini ‐ 1 silver, 67kg-Aminu Umar 2 gold and 1 bronze, Abdulkadir Muhammad Abdullahi, 1gold and 1bronze, 75kg-Abdul’aziz Taufiq, 1bronze

Others are 70kg-Ibrahim Abdullahi 1bronze, 80kg- Abdulrasheed Abdulaziz, 2 gold, 8 kg-Yusuf Muhammad Auwal 1 silver. 

In the Female category 50kg- Habiba Aliyu Gelengu got 1 silver, 68kg- Sefura Raji, 1 silver.
