He is said to have made two appearance in court over visa and study residency violation. If found guilty, he risks a two-year jail term and deportation.
A former Chairman of the state’s scholarship board, Hassan Muhammad Rabah, at a joint press briefing, said the state government was in touch with the school authorities and assured that the tuition would be settled.
Rabah, who addressed newsmen with the Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Finance, Dahiru Abbas, said findings showed that the embattled student had no immigration issue contrary to his claim.
He added that the tuition was $4,000 and not $12,000 as claimed by the student.
He further said, “We learnt that he married a Russian woman and they have an issue which he needs money to settle. Therefore he is using all avenues to blackmail us into sending money at all cost.”
