Nigerians have been urged to imbibe the virtues of love, generosity, faithfulness, forgiveness, selflessness and service in order to live lives worthy of emulation.

The Deputy General Overseer of The Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), Pastor Emmanuel Oluwayemi, gave the charge at the weekend during the funeral service of Engr. Adeolu Ogundare in Lagos.

Pastor Oluwayemi, who spoke on the topic ‘the need to finish well’, said that the church does not pray or preach to the dead but sermons at funeral services are targeted at the living as everyone would return to the creator at the appointed time.

While making reference to biblical characters that lived worthy lives and finished their race well, Pastor Oluwayemi noted that it was obvious that Engr. Ogundare lived an impactful life from the testimonies heard from different groups and persons at the service.

“What will the world hear about you? From what people have said, we can see that he lived a righteous and impactful life. He was a truthful man, a man of integrity, very gentle and simple but very firm. He is a model to anyone who wants to finish well,” he said about the late Ogundare, who until his death was a supervisor at Chevron Nigeria Limited, a multinational oil and gas company.

In its tribute, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Chevron branch, described the deceased as a true leader who led his people through turbulence, brought order into chaos and re-established mutuality, confidence and harmony.

The national President of NSE, Engr. Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wadil, described late Ogundare as an erudite and pragmatic engineering practitioner, who left indelible impressions in the hearts of everyone that encountered him.

Engr. Ogundare, who was the district pastor of GOFAMINT, Idimu, Lagos, died on May 9 aged 60. He is survived by his wife, children, brothers and sisters.
