Again, residents of Pipeline community in Kubwa, a satellite town in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), were on Sunday thrown into a state of shock when they woke up to discover the decomposing body of a newborn baby on a refuse dump.

This came two months after City & Crime reported that a newborn baby was discovered at the same refuse dump.

When our reporter visited the area, a crowd had gathered at the waste dump. The body was found wrapped in a soiled clothe.

Residents were overheard lamenting and cursing the perpetrator of the act.

A resident, Helen Chukwuemeka, said, “This is an act of wickedness. How can someone do this when several people are looking for children?

“I came out and saw the lifeless body of a baby lying there on the refuse dump. This is not fair, honestly. How can a woman do this to a baby she carried in her womb for nine months? Why won’t she keep the baby and train him? Or why won’t she give the baby out to those who are in need?

“Better still, the mother of this baby would have wrapped him in a clean cloth and kept him safely in a place where people can pick him up and take him to an orphanage.”

A community leader in the area, Ibrahim Tijani, told our reporter that he was bitter about the development, describing it as a “disaster”.

He said he had contacted the police regarding the matter.

There was no response from the FCT Police Command up till the time of filing this report yesterday.
