The Jigawa Children Parliament has urged the state government to expedite action on the passage and implementation of the child’s protection law to address the problem of out-of-school children in the state.
The children made the presentation fRIday during an advocacy visit to Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar as part of the activities to mark this year’s international Children’s Day.

In their separate requests to the governor, the leader of the parliament, Mustapha Isa Ibrahim and the clerk, Jabeer Haruna Danjuma, stressed the need for the state government to quickly ensure the passage and implementation of the child rights law.
They spoke on the need to address the out-of-school syndrome, especially considering the fact that Jigawa is one of the worst hit states in the North as far as the problem is concerned.
Responding, Badaru, who was represented by the Head of Service, Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila, pledged to address the problem of out-of-school children as a strategy to facilitate the rapid development of the society.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, said his administration would continue to invest massively in the future of children in the state.
The governor, in his Children’s Day celebration message yesterday, said his administration would continue to prioritise the well being and secure a better future for children in the state.
On his part, the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, said there was the need for the government and the society to give adequate attention to all issues affecting children in the country.
Abdulrazaq in a statement to mark the Children’s Day, noted that his administration would continue to make the right investments that would guarantee equitable opportunities.
In commemoration of Children’s Day in Nigeria, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu appealed to parents and guardians to inculcate the right values in their wards to enable them shun all social vices.
The governor, at an event to mark the day, urged parents and guardians to protect their children from all harms by providing better childhood in order to give them a promising future.
“We owe them a duty to ensure that their dreams and aspirations are realised, through continuous training, guidance and mentoring,” he said.
