Oduah wins fresh PDP senatorial ticket amid NYSC certificate saga

Senator representing Anambra North, Stella Oduah has won the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the Senate seat for the second term barely 48 hours after the National Youth Service Corps said she absconded from service during the 1982/1983 service year.

Oduah polled 278 votes to emerge the winner, beating her contender, Tony Nwoye, who got one vote while John Okechwu didn’t get any vote. Nwoye had withdrawn from the contest a few days earlier.

Also a member of the PDP Board of Trustee, Chris Uba and Senator representing Anambra Central District Iyom Uche Ekwunife picked the party tickets for the 2023 elections.

Uba picked the ticket of Anambra South Senatorial District after scoring 348 votes out of 454 votes cast at the primary election held in Awka Anambra State.

Ekwunife was returned unopposed because no body was contesting against her.

However, two of the aspirants for Anambra South Senatorial District, Barr. Obinna Uzor and Valentine Ozigbo, withdrew from the contest, saying that they had no confidence in the electoral process.

The primary election was witnessed by Independent Electoral Commission INEC and delegation from party national office .
