A former governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, has described the nomination of Professor Babagana Umara Zulum as his successor as his best decision ever.
Shettima, stated this on his Facebook wall while reacting to the emergence of Zulum as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State for the 2023 elections.
Zulum, who succeeded Shettima in 2019 emerged as the sole aspirant of the party at the primary held at the El-Kanemi Sports Centre, Maiduguri on Thursday.
On his Facebook, Shettima, who represents Borno Central Senatorial District, said; “I am the happiest person on earth today because just like every other day since I left office, Almighty God has kept on vindicating me.
” In 2018, you (Zulum) contested alongside nine other contestants to become our flag bearer for the 2019 election in Borno State but after exhibiting exceptional leadership style and courage, nobody contested against you today. This is a clear indication that you did extremely well in the last 3 years of your Stewardship.
“The decision I took in 2018 to nominate you to succeed me was the best decision I have ever made. I have no regrets and if given the same opportunity I will repeat the same again and again.
“Your emergence as the flag bearer of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) today was not by coincidence and Insha Allah a resounding victory awaits you at the election come 2023.
“Congratulations Gov. Zulum my boss and the leader Borno. We are mightily proud of you,” he said.
