Gunmen suspected to be enforcing the sit-at-home order of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Thursday, burnt a motorcycle and a tricycle on Umakashi Road by the Building Material Market, Nsukka, Enugu State.
A witness who pleaded anonymity told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident happened around 6am when the gunmen on motorcycles with face masks stopped vehicles.

According to him, they beat up the passengers on the motorcycle and in the tricycle before setting them ablaze.
He further said, “After setting the tricycle and motorcycle ablaze, they waited for about 10 minutes before they zoomed off, shooting in the air.”
NAN gathered that many shops, business centres, motor parks, banks, markets and schools did not open to business on Thursday because the news of the incident spread within Nsukka town and environs.
When contacted, Mr Charles lkema, the acting Chairman of Nsukka Building Materials Market, said, “I did not witness the burning of the motorcycle and tricycle, but l saw the burnt tricycle and motorcycle.
“I therefore ordered the closure of the market to ensure security of lives and property.”
However, the state’s police spokesman, Mr Daniel Ndukwe, said the command had not received official report on the incident. (NAN)
