‘We were not told venue and time’, 4 aspirants reject Abia APC Gov’ship primary results

Four governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State have rejected the outcome of the party’s governorship primary that took place on Thursday.

The aggrieved aspirants described the process as a scam, alleging that they were not told the venue and time of the primary election.

The aggrieved aspirants include U.S.-based chartered accountant, Chief Daniel Eke, and the former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Chief Uche Ogah.

The other aspirants are the Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, Mr Paul Ikonne, and a former Commissioner of Finance in the state, Mr Obinna Oriaku.

Speaking on behalf of others, Mr Eke explained that none of the aspirants to the governorship seat of Abia State was told the exact venue and time for the primary, pointing out that all they heard was that the primary has been conducted.

“There was unreliable information of multiple conducts of the primary in different locations, none of the aspirants was told the correct location”, he claimed.

He said while one aspirant adopted the direct mode of conducting the primary in his venue, another conducted his in another location using the indirect method to achieve his aim.

“I made some calls, I sent messages to the national headquarters to know what’s going on and no information came.

“Right now, I don’t even know where they’re conducting the congress.

“As an aspirant, I should’ve been kept abreast of what’s going on,” he lamented.

But the APC chairman in the state, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu, described the primary as “peaceful, fair and credible, devoid of rancour”.

According to him, the party’s National Executive Council approved the indirect primary.
