Anambra delegation visits man whose wife, children were murdered

Anambra State Government has condoled with Mr. Jubril Ahmed, the husband of late Hariri Jubril, who was killed alongside her four children in Anambra.

A government delegation led by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Paul Nwosu, his Women and Social Development counterpart, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime, among others met with him at the Cattle market, Amansea, on Thursday.

Nwosu conveyed the condolence message from the Governor and Ndi Anambra to the family of the departed.

He explained that the killings in the state were not a targeted attack on a particular tribe or religion.

Nwosu expressed shock over how people could kill “in such a manner”.

He said the Governor would have attended in person, but could not because of urgent security issue.

Nwosu stated that Ndi Igbo and other tribes have lived together for so long in peace and harmony and urged them to go about their lawful businesses.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Women and Social Development Mrs Obinabo, stated that Anambra people are largely travelers who are receptive of people from other tribes.

Speaking during the visit, leader of Miyetti Allah in the South East, Mallam Gidado Sadiq, described the incident as horrible.

He thanked the governor for sending the delegation, explaining that they had lost many people and regretted that a lot are now afraid because of the incident.

He pledged the readiness to continue working with the government to enthrone peace in the state.

Chairman, Amansea Cattle Market, Alhaji Bello Maigari, younger sister to the late Harira, Suweiba Musa, as well as the Hausa Community in Amansea, were present during the visit.

Before her death, Harira Jibril was aged thirty-two, while her four children: Fatima, Khadijah, Hadiza and Zaituna, were aged nine, seven, five and two respectively.
