FG, Nasarawa to strengthen ties against illegal mining

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has called for a stronger collaboration between federal government and the Nasarawa state government towards proper regulation against illegal miners in the state.

Professor Osibanjo made the call during the opening ceremony of the Nasarawa Investment Summit with the theme, “Diamond in the Rough” The making of new investment frontiers,” in Lafia on Wednesday.

He explained that there was a need for the state to work closely with the federal ministry of steel on the enforcement of regulations against the activities of illegal miners in the state.

“As a home of solid minerals there is a lot of hope of building a mining industry in Nasarawa state. “There is a need also for stronger collaboration between the federal and the state governments towards proper regulation against illegal miners in the state.”

President, Dangote Group Alhaji Aliko Dangote, described the Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule as a visionary leader, particularly in advancing quick development.

He attributed the sharp growth recorded in Dangote sugar company to the personality of governor Sule, who before joining politics added value to the company.

He also lauded the state governor for allocating five per cent of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to infrastructure.

“The Nigeria of yesterday is far away from the present day Nigeria,” he stated.

Governor Abdullahi Sule while unveiling Nasarawa Investment Summit, said that his administration would continue to create an enabling environment for investors to invest and other business activities to thrive in the state.

“The summit will serve as a platform to present credible and bankable investment opportunities that are market ready for investors engagement,” he noted.
