Many intending pilgrims in Lagos State will miss the 2022 Hajj following their inability to meet the deadline issued by the state for the completion of payment.
Following the release of Hajj slots allocated to states by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board (LSMPWB) had issued a deadline for intending pilgrims; some of whom deposited N1.3m since 2019 and 2020.

A source said after applying the principle of ‘first come, first served’ to allocate the slots, the state had exhausted the allocation.
The board has however opened the window for the refund to the intending pilgrims.
A statement signed by the LSMPWB Secretary, Imam AbdulHakeem Kosoko, and the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, said the government decided to open the windows so that those desirous of getting back their money could do so without further delay.
The statement said they should apply for a refund between May 10 and 13 for further processes.
