Traditional rulers play huge role in keeping Kano peaceful – Ganduje

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has commended the efforts and roles of traditional rulers in promoting peaceful co-existence in the state.

He made the statement when he received the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and his entourage celebrating the traditional ‘Hawa. Nassarawa’ Durbar in Kano on Wednesday at the state government house.

While thanking the Kano Emirate for being steadfast in ensuring peaceful co-existence in the state, he assured the government’s continued commitment to the council.

“Your Highness, we have created new Emirate councils due to history and demand of people and dissemination of development in the rural areas.

“We have to thank the traditional system for what we call the role of traditional rulers in community policing, ranging from the ward heads, district heads and the Emirs with full cooperation with security agencies,” he said.

Speaking, His Highness, the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, commended the administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje government for the giant strides it is recording in areas of education, security, health among others.

He further called on the good people of Kano to ensure that they hold onto their voters’ cards as the electioneering period is fast approaching, especially with Kano’s position as one of the states with the highest number of electorates.

The Hawan Nassarawa Durbar, which is being practised on every third day of Sallah has in attendance thousands of individuals and groups within and from outside Nigeria, Africa and countries across the world.
