This is as governors, other emirs and Islamic clerics across the country have asked Nigerians to shun acts capable of provoking crisis in the country and pray for peace.

The Sultan asked politicians to play the game of politics with faith and love for one another and ensure none of their supporters is involved in breaching the peace and unity of Nigeria.

“We are fully aware that the general elections in Nigeria are fast approaching. Therefore, we urge Nigerians to live peacefully with one another and ensure the belief that whoever emerges after the election period is not only our choice but the choice of the Almighty Allah,” he said.

The Sultan also urged the Muslim Ummah to continue to appreciate the Almighty Allah for the gift of life to witness Ramadan.

“Our scholars preached a lot during the period of Ramadan, as such, we should continue to hold on to what was learnt during the period.

“This is a great opportunity for all of us to ensure the best living conditions and to live peacefully with one another,” he added. (NAN)

Niger State governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, says insecurity remains the major concern confronting the state.

In an Eid-el-Fitr message through his Chief Press Secretary, Mary Noel-Berje, the governor pledged his administration’s commitment to making sure that the situation became a thing of the past in the state.

He said even though significant successes had been recorded in the fight against terrorism in the state, much still needed to be done, and pledged that the state would continue to work closely with all security agencies for an enduring peace.

While urging them to continue in their prayers for peace and development of the state and the nation in general, he also implored them to sustain the lessons of Ramadan beyond the period for a better society

Ekiti State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, also congratulated Muslims for successfully completing the Ramadan fast and witnessing this year’s Eid-el Fitr festival.

He described Eid el Fitri as the crowning of the blessings received during the Holy month, which he said, had drawn the faithful closer to the Almighty Allah.

He called on Muslims to pray for peace, harmony and tranquility in the state before, during and after the June 18 governorship election.

 Sokoto

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State and his predecessor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, in their separate Sallah messages yesterday called on Nigerians to live in peace with one another.

Tambuwal said, “We should not lose sight of the fact that we have all sweated and some have made supreme sacrifice to ensure that we put in place an enduring democratic culture. As a result, we must not allow our efforts to go in vain.”

On his part, Wamakko called for more piety and sustained fervent prayers for the success of the country and to avoid acts capable of derailing it.

Bauchi

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has advised Muslims to apply the lessons of the Ramadan towards solving personal, communal and national problems.

He told politicians to “lower the temperature of politics that is ravaging the country and deepening its historical fault-lines.”

In his message, the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, urged the governor to continue to support local vigilantes, hunters and other security agencies as part of efforts to have sustainable peace.
