UPDATED: Mino Raiola, Pogba, Haaland’s agent not dead, but in critical condition

High profile football agent, Mino Raiola, is in a critical condition but not dead.

This is contrary to the initial report that the representative of stars as Paul Pogba, Erling Haaland and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, had died at the age of 54.

The football agent was hospitalised in Milan back in January and underwent very delicate surgery but the nature of the illness was not revealed.

Reports said at the time the condition wasn’t life-threatening and that Raiola would begin a period of rehabilitation at home.

“Mino Raiola was subjected to ordinary medical checks which required anaesthesia,” confirmed Raiola’s official Twitter account in January. “These are scheduled checks, there have been no emergency intervention.”

Raiola wasn’t afraid to upset managers during his career, as he aimed to get the best possible deal for his clients.

“When [Sir Alex] Ferguson criticised me, that was my biggest compliment anybody could give me,” he told The Athletic last year.

The multi-lingual football agent worked his way up from humble beginnings to become one of the most influential figures in the world game, brokering mega-deals involving some of the most prominent players.

Aside Pogba, Ibrahimovic, he was the representative to the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Mario Balotelli, Marco Verratti and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

It was reported that Raiola earned as much as £20million from the world record £89m sale of Pogba from Juventus to Manchester United in 2016.

It had been shaping up to be a busy summer for Raiola, with Pogba and Haaland among his clients expected to be on the move.

Forbes estimated last year that Raiola’s personal wealth was in the region of £62m.
