Police arrest 23-year-old burglar in Ibadan

The police in Oyo State, on Tuesday, arrested a 23-year-old burglar, Bankole Mustapha, in a hotel in Bodija area of Ibadan, the state capital.

Spokesman of the police in the state, Adewale Osifeso, who paraded the suspect in Ibadan, said he specialised in stealing from hotels and other recreational facilities in Ibadan.

Olafeso said, “In a concerted effort to rid Oyo State off unscrupulous and undesirable criminally motivated individuals, operatives of the command attached to the Bodija Housing Division, while on intelligence surveillance in the Bodija/Sango axis of Ibadan North LGA on Monday, January 25, 2022, around 0100hrs, apprehended one Bankole Mustapha ‘m’ aged 23, a serial burglar specialised in stealing from hotels and other recreational facilities.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect approached the hotel’s receptionist during the late hours of Sunday under the guise of being a lodger, having devised a sinister means of executing his plan of removing valuables from the hotel by demanding a room in proximity with the hotel’s exit point.

“In furtherance of his action, at about 0100hrs, he removed and carted away the 32-inch Samsung television in his room and another unbranded 32-inch flat screen television at the reception.”
