How to prevent insurgency – Expert

The Commandant, National Institute for Security Studies, Abuja, Ayodele Adeleke, says to forestall insurgency in Nigeria, there should child-parent education and emotional support in the family so that individuals do not become miscreants in the society.

He said this in Abuja Saturday at the fifth Ashraaf Islamic Foundation annual Ramadan Lecture and Prayer for the Nation, with the theme, ‘Economic Sustainability: A Divine Key to National Security’.

He said: “The role of the family in maintaining order in the society cannot be overemphasized. Parental guidance and control are very important in the family.

“Security should not be seen as government responsibility alone, all hands must be on deck to support government and ensure peaceful coexistence in the Nigerian society.”

The founder of the Foundation and Chief Imam of Nasirul-Lahi-Li-Fatih, Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) Mosque, Abuja, Sheik Sharafudeen Abdulsalam Aliagan, said the foundation was committed to the security and development of Nigeria through the empowerment of the needy among others.

“So, this fifth Ramadan lecture is also being combined with special prayer for the nation, as there is nothing that Muslims do without prayer and Allah’s intervention.

“We cannot survive without prayer. Prayer is this sword of the believer.”

He also urged the government to prioritize welfare of the citizens.
