‘Stop the Flooding Campaign’ commences in Abuja

The FCT Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) said it has commenced the “Stop the Flooding Campaign” within the territory.

In a statement, the spokesperson of the STDD, Felicia Meeme, said the STDD coordinator, Comrade Obinna Francis Ogwuegbu, spoke on behalf of the minister of state for the FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, tasking residents of the satellite towns, as well as the entire FCT residents, to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

Com Ogwuegbu, while on inspection of dumps in the area councils recently, told journalists that flooding mostly occurred as a result of blocked drains, building on waterways; dumping of refuse on road borders, in canals and on roads.

After the inspection, Com Ogwuegbu said, “Together we can stop and control flooding if only we can stop littering our environment and keep it clean and green.
