A pro-Muhammadu Buhari support group, Buhari For All, has flagged off distribution of 10 trucks of rice and two trucks of maize to vulnerable households in Kano state.
The distribution, according to the group is to help the beneficiaries cushion the effect of the present economic condition in the country, especially as Muslims fast in the month of Ramadan.
Speaking while flagging off the distribution in Kano on Saturday, the group’s national Coordinator, Aminu Sani Jaji, said the gesture is part of the appreciation of their group to citizens for their support to President Buhari.
“This is to show appreciation to people that have always shown support to President Buhari, especially the less privileged among them, in this holy month of Ramadan.
“We are witnessing the distribution of 12 trucks of rice and maize, weighing about 60,000 metric tonnes, and we are targeting on reaching out to about 20,000 households in Kano state,” Jaji added.
The national Coordinator who said the group is for the like-mind associates of the President in principles, also expressed optimism that the gesture will reach a reasonable number of vulnerable families in the state.
Jaji said the distribution will take place different parts of the country, adding that they are starting with Kano because it has always been Buhari’s support base.
On his part, the group’s Coordinator in Kano state and former federal lawmaker, Nasiru Baballe Ila, said they will ensure fair distribution of the palliative across the state.
Daily Trust reports that the distribution also had in attendance the Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari and member representing Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure federal constituency in the state, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum.
