His abductors had asked his family members to sell off his house to raise the N20 million ransom they demanded.
They had later slashed it to N6million, threatening to kill him within 24 hours if the money was not raised.
Speaking with Daily Trust at his palace on Sunday, the monarch said his family members raised N4 million before he was left off the hook.
He praised God for sparing his life and two other victims and also appreciated relatives, friends and well wishers for their prayers and financial support.
He advised the government to intensify efforts towards securing Nigerians.
“I don’t pray for my enemy to be a victim, because with what I saw with my eyes, I couldn’t believe I will return back home alive. These bandits were over 200 with sophisticated weapons and different camps,” he said.
Friends and relatives from neigbouring places trooped to the palace to sympathise with the monarch.
