Group urges philanthropy to support government efforts

A group in Bauchi, Hasken Demokradiyya, has called on wealthy individuals and community leaders in Bauchi State to support government’s effor to make life better for the people.

Chairman of the group, Hussaini Ladan made the call in Bauchi while speaking to journalists on the need for people to play their part in transforming the state.

He noted that everybody has a role to play in complementing the administration of governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar to fulfil it’s campaign promises.

He said many people in nooks and crannies of the state who support the government through philanthropic projects while helping individuals to solve personal problems.

"I can tell you that, there are business people and politicians [like]Rabiu Dankyarana who spend and use his money to uplift others which in a way helped the government as it will not be inundated with personal requests at all levels.

"Our business people and politicians should sit up to help people at the grassroots in order to lift the burden off the government so that it discharges its responsibilities,” he said.

Ladan also commended the state governor, Mohammed Abubakar for his efforts which culminated in settling the backlog of salaries and pension arrears owed workers in the state.

He however noted that although the payment of salaries and arrears to workers is a right not a privileged, the governor must be commended considering the state’s economic difficulties.

He also praised the workers for their patience all the time which he said made it possible for the governor to run the state despite the financial challenges.
