Nigerian fans rule out Chelsea comeback against Real Madrid

A cross section of Nigerian football fans have taken to Twitter to rule out any possibility of Chelsea staging a comeback against Real Madrid in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Chelsea, on Thursday night lost 3-1 to the 13-time European champions in the first leg played at the Stamford Bridge.

A twitter user by the name Ahmed @ahmed_hamed11 emphatically said Chelsea is not a team familiar with comebacks, rather they are known to hold on to leads.

“It’s funny how some Chelsea fans believe we still stand a chance… Coming back from a deficit hasn’t been our identity for a while now. We are more of a hold on to a lead kind of team. It would take a miracle or a historic Madrid collapse for us to qualify,” he tweeted.

Another fan, Richard @chocozhere said he blamed former Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, for giving Chelsea the false belief that they can defeat Real.

It will be recalled that Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane was beaten by Chelsea in 2021 in the semi-finals.

“I blame Zidane shaa. He really made these Chelsea fans believe they have what it takes to beat a Real Madrid team,” he tweeted.

Foundational Edo Boy @isa_ahmadu29 slammed the London club for the mockery his father has subjected him to after the loss.

“Chelsea see wetin una cause my Popsy call me begin troll me, dey ask if I chop and sleep well last night. Chelsea UNA do this One. No Wahala,” he tweeted.

Ghoztman @maltitii__ was upfront with the supposed ‘hatred’ Nigerians have for the club. He wondered why they were happy the club lost.
