The Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Friday swore in Justice Joseph Ahmed Awak as substantive Chief Judge of the state.
Awak has been acting as the state’s Chief Judge since January 2, following the retirement of the former acting chief judge, Justice Muazu Pindiga (rtd).

He congratulated the new judiciary helmsman for being found worthy to superintend over the judicial arm of government, saying the appointment was appointed based on his many years of meritorious and selfless service.
“Following the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC) on March 16, as required by the constitution, I approved the appointment of Justice Joseph Ahmed Awak as the substantive Chief Judge of the state High Court of Justice as ratified by the Gombe State House of Assembly,” he said.
Governor Yahaya said his administration will continue to support the judiciary and legislature in discharging their statutory responsibilities effectively for the overall benefit of the people of the state.
