Ramadan: Ensure your organs cease from misbehaving, cleric tells Muslims

An Islamic cleric, Sheikh Tajudern Muhammad Adigun, has urged Muslims to prepare their souls and sense organs for the fasting month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin Saturday, subject to the announcement by the authorities.

He said for Muslims to have an impactful Ramadan, they must not only shun eating and drinking during the daytime of Ramadan, but also shun all sins.

He spoke at a pre-Ramadan lecture in Abuja organised by Organisation of Tadhamunul Muslimeen (OTM) and The Muslim Congress (TMC), FCT chapter.

He said, “As regards Ramadan, Muslims should prepare not only food but also their souls for the spiritual task. The essence of Ramadan is to inculcate the teaching of God-consciousness in one’s heart so that we end up having piety.

“All organs of the body should cease misbehaving. Muslims must shun all acts of sin. That is the only way to have fasting that will have impact on our lives.”

Imam Adigun also urged Muslims to strive to strengthen their imaan (faith) which, he said, would guide them towards righteousness and shun corruption.

He said, “Unfortunately, you find a Muslim, who claims to be a believer but then the attitude he’s displaying is contrary to that of a believer.

“Let us try to strengthen our imaan. As Muslims, we should be righteous in our deeds, a Muslim should not be corrupt, telling lies, frustrating his family, cheating or oppressing others. Today, all these are happening in society and the cause is that the imaan of Muslims is very weak.

“The discussion centred on imaan because if a Muslim has a solid belief, automatically it will reflect in his actions and make him to be righteous, kind, merciful to mankind, honour them, and assist the weak and the aged.”
