Kannywood: I’m Not In A Relationship With Hamisu Breaker — Momee Gombe

Kannywood actress, Maimuna Abubakar, popularly known as Momee Gombe in northern Nigeria’s film industry, has revealed that she can never forget the Hausa hit song, Jarumar Mata by the talented singer, Hamisu Sa’id Yusuf, popularly known as Hamisu Breaker.

The entertainer also revealed that while the song, Jarumar Mata, shot her into the limelight, some people believe she is in a relationship with Hamisu Breaker, a notion that is not true.

The actress who was born and raised in Gombe said so during an interview with the BBC on Thursday while speaking about her personal life and acting career.

Momee Gombe who performed as the lead female character in the popular song’s music video, “Jarumar Mata” which means The Amazon in English, had been brought to the limelight by the highly successful song with led to speculations that she was in a relationship with the singer, Hamisu Breaker.

But Momee dismissed the speculations of being in a relationship with the artiste as a mere rumour, while also declaring that the music video was her favourite in the industry and she could never forget it.

“A lot of people call me by the name Jarumar Mata due to the song. Of course, I was in the song with my colleague Hamisu Breaker, and so people began calling me Jarumar Mata after it.

“I can never forget how happy I was with the song and its success. I had not imagined it would be as successful. I’ve also heard the rumour that I am in a relationship with him (Hamisu Breaker), but actually, that is not true. He’s only my colleague in the industry,” said Momee Gombe.

 

Momee Gombe is one of the fast-rising stars of the Kannywood industry. She has appeared in a number of successful movies including Kishin Mata and Asalin Kauna.

In 2019, she was featured in Hamisu Breaker’s ‘Jarumar Mata’ music video, the visual of the song became a hit, and the song was one of the biggest songs of 2020 in northern Nigeria.
