Mustapha Sule Lamido, son of former Jigawa state governor, has picked the governorship nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This comes barely one week after he declared his interest in contesting the governorship election.

In a statement, one of his aides, Mansur Ahmed, said, a one-time Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nuruddeen Muhammad, led a large delegation of supporters to the Wadata House National Headquarters of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) to purchase the governorship nomination and expression of interest form for Lamido.
The National Financial Secretary, Daniel Woyengikoro, the statement said, handed the forms, electoral guidelines, party constitution, timetable, and the list of documents required for screening to Dr. Muhammad.
Among those that accompanied Dr. Muhammad included Umar Roni, Nasir Mohammed Sparrow, Shehu Wan , Alhaji Aminu Wada Abubakar, Alhaji Aminu Nuhu, Habu Chari Gumel, Barrister Isah Ahmed, Umar Ɗanjani, Aliyu Tukur Gantsa, Ibrahim Muhammad Abega
Others were Sani Adamu, Munnir Turmi, Hon. Musa Mohammed Musa Muhammad Auyo, Alhaji Kabiru Nura, Bashari Mana, Barr. Ahmed Gudaji, Alhaji Dini Sani Gumel, Mohammed Mohammed Daguro and Mansur Ahmed.
Mustapha is the first politician in Jigawa to formally join the 2023 gubernatorial race.
Addressing his supporters at his Dutse, Jigawa residence, Lamido said he took the decision to contest the election after due consultation with stakeholders and party stalwarts across the state.
