Eni, the parent company of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), has blamed communities for the delay in the repair of its leaked pipeline in Bayelsa State.
Eni said the neighbouring local communities are also hindering its planned Joint Investigation Visit (JIV) at the Tebidaba/Brass 18’ pipeline located in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.

Agip spokesman in a statement yesterday said that the leak was reported on March 5, when the company was shut-in and the facility was repaired on March 21.
“The leak was repaired on 21st March once the company was granted access, and the disruption of intervention was reported to the appropriate regulatory agencies,” he said.
The statement followed a complaint by the people of the Lasukugbene community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area over alleged inaction in the oil leak in Agip’s facility.
