Buhari yet to arrive at APC convention ground, delegates await voting

Delegates to the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are already on the ground at Eagle Square, Abuja, awaiting the arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari’s arrival will mark the official commencement of the event which is expected to produce a new crop of National Working Committee (NWC).

The convention is also expected to approve and adopt a new Constitution for the party and elect zonal executive officers.

According to the programme for the convention released on Friday, Buhari was supposed to arrive at 3.15pm. He had not arrived as of the time of filing this report.

Delegates to the convention are: serving governors, ex-governors, senators, state chairmen, local government chairmen, members of the state Houses of Assembly, membwrs of rhe House of representstives on the olatfoem of the party among others.

Some of the VIPs and delegates who have arrived the venue of the convention include Secretary of APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee Senator John Akpankudohede; Governors Dapo Abiodun, Ogun; Yahaya Bello, Kogi; Abdullahi Sule, Nasarawa; Abubakar Sani Bello, Niger; Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti.

Others are ministers of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio; Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; a former military governor of Borno State, retired Colonel Abdulmumin Aminu; a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode; Sen. Ita Enang; Abike Dabiri-Erewa; and former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim.
