The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has detained a man over the death of 80-year-old Habiba Abubakar.
Naziru Magaji, 25, allegedly killed Abubakar by throwing her into a well on March 24 in Kununu, Yelwa, Danziyel of Rimin Gado Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command received a report about the incident from someone from Wangara Village of Tofa Local Government Area of the state.
He added that the woman was then taken by the police to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.
He said her remains were handed over to her family for burial according to Islamic rites while the suspect is currently under investigation.
From the initial investigation, Naziru admitted that he hit the woman and threw her into the well which resulted in her death.
