Operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command have smashed a notorious armed robbery gang at Amarata axis of Yenagoa, the state capital.
The operatives, who carried out a sting operation at the hideouts of the gang on Tuesday, arrested four suspects and recovered a Makarov pistol, a locally made pistol, ammunition and a beret with a cult insignia.

Police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, in a statement on Wednesday, said the suspects had all confessed to be members of Bobos cult group and were cooperating with the police in their investigation.
The statement reads in part: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were responsible for recent robberies in Amarata and environs.”
