The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) Alumni Association has urged the federal government to harness the national resources as part of measures to grow the country’s economy.
One of the alumni members and a former governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, at the 2022 maiden annual general conference of the association in Abuja, said such moves could create more jobs.
The senator said opportunities abound when resources were properly harnessed to provide jobs for millions of Nigerians.
Another member and founder, Al-Ansar Foundation, Dr. Mohammed Dikwa, in an address said entrepreneurship is vital for economic prosperity and national development.
The chairman, UNIMAID Alumni Association, Alhaji Baba Shettima-Kukawa, said the Entrepreneurship Development Centre launched as well as the UNIMAID Alumni MarketPlace are to promote entrepreneurial skills.
The vice chancellor, University of Maiduguri, Prof. Aliyu Shugaba, represented by the coordinator, Alumni Affairs of the university, Prof. Mohammed Musa, said the university had always been supportive of all alumni chapters in the country.
