The police in Kano State have arrested two teenage boys for allegedly murdering a housewife at Danbare Quarters of Kano metropolis.
The housewife identified as Rukayya Jamilu, 21, was murdered when the assailants broke into her house and bashed her head with a pestle, also leaving her two children with grievous injuries.
The police spokesman in Kano, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa told Daily Trust late Wednesday that the police investigation led to the arrest of the teenagers identified Abdulsamad Suleiman, 18, of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Gwale LGA Kano State together with his alleged accomplice, Mu’azzam Lawan, 17, of the same address.
Kiyawa recalled that the husband of the deceased reported the matter to the police on February 12.
He was quoted to have said when he returned from his place of work, he met his wife in pool of her blood motionless on her bed, and also his children, ages three and one with grievous injuries.
He said investigation was conducted by the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department and the state’s command of the Department of State Services (DSS) which led to the arrest of Suleiman.
“On discreet investigation, the principal suspect confessed that, on 12/02/2022 at about 1600hrs, he went to the house of the deceased as his relative and met her on bed. After he greeted her, he saw three (3) Mobile phones and took them.”
“Having realised that she recognized him, he used a wooden made pestle and repeatedly hit her on her head and also hit her two children and left with the Mobile phones. He further confessed that, he gave one of the Mobile phones to his friend and sold the other two at Twelve Thousand Naira (N12,000:00). His friend was arrested and also confessed to have sold the mobile phone given to him belonging to the deceased at Two Thousand Naira (N2,000:00),” he said.
Kiyawa added that the case will be charged to court upon completion of investigation, adding that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, has warned that criminals will have no hiding place in Kano State.
