Commenting on the incident, Mr Solomon Elisha, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in Taraba, said it was unfortunate that brothers chose to take up arms against themselves.
He noted that instead of facing the economic crisis that crippled the activities of the two communities people chose to fight over issues that had not any benefit.
According to him, it is a wrong thing for brothers to have chosen not to co-exist peacefully.
“When this issue started the state government was on top of the situation and stakeholders had engaged the various groups in dialogue.”
“I am an Ichen man from Kurmi; I have spoken to my people to lay down their arms and resolve whatsoever is the issue.
“Gov. Darius Ishaku during his recent visit to Kurmi spoke to the two feuding parties which they agreed to co-exist and live in peace,” he said.
The Commissioner, who is a stakeholder from Kurmi LGA, commended the governor for setting up a commission of inquiry to wade into the crisis with the view to bringing an end to the conflict.
The Taraba Command of the Nigeria Police had earlier confirmed the killing of three policemen and a woman in the crisis between Ichen and Ndaka tribes. (NAN)
