A supporter and loyalist of the chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, one Awwal Idris, has died in a motor accident while celebrating the defection of the council’s chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
City & Crime reports that three others inside the vehicle are receiving treatment at a private hospital in Gwagwalada.

Our reporter gathered that the incident happened on Saturday at about 11 am when the convoy of the chairman was on its way to Dobi Ward where he was to be formally received to the PDP by the party’s ward chairman, Abubakar Sarki.
It was learnt that the vehicle which was in the convoy veered off the road and somersaulted and landed in a ditch, killing Idris on the spot.
The PDP chairman in Gwagwalada, Alhaji Yunusa Abdullahi, confirmed the incident through telephone to our reporter.
He said the deceased, a native of Leda village, where the chairman also hailed from, had been buried according to Islamic rites.
