An art exhibition to create awareness on sickle cell is set to hold in Abuja.
Themed “Art for Cause,” the curator, Nduwhite Ndubuisi Ahanonu, said on his social media handle: “One of the greatest benefits of art is that it can save us from our ignorance, from our one-dimensional perspectives. Having an amazing piece of art right in front of you, can open you up to new realities and significantly change your life.”
Ahanonu said that the exhibition held in memory of the late Micheal Iwuh is set to add value and smiles to persons living with sickle cell anaemia.
He disclosed that the event would hold on Thursday, March, 24, 2022 in Abuja.
Ahanonu said among visual artists expected at the exhibition are Obi Nwaegbe, Uche Uguru and Unuoma Evuarherhe as well as Bukunmi Olukitibi, a contemporary dance artist.
He said the proceeds from the art sales would go to the Sickle Cell Aid Foundation (SCAF), a Non-Governmental Organisation focused on creating awareness on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and ensuring that people living with the disease get access to quality health care.
