Nigeria lacks job creation courses in universities – NDE DG

The Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, has raised concern over the absence of job creation related courses in Nigeria’s universities, describing it as a major cause of unemployment.

According to him, NDE under his leadership will prioritize training as part of its agenda to address the challenge.

Fikpo said the directorate will resist anyone within or outside the directorate that constitutes a stumbling block or attempts to frustrate the lofty goals.

While addressing members of the executive management and state coordinators at a capacity-building training held in Kaduna, the DG said the directorate has done well in its aspiration to create jobs for all Nigerians.

“It is noteworthy that the path to effective and efficient employment generation, wealth creation, and poverty alleviation is strewn with daunting and seemingly insurmountable obstacles which tend to discourage even the most incurable optimists. 

“This is even made more difficult because there is no discipline in our tertiary institutions that has a department or faculty of job creations,” he said.
