The Lagos State government Wednesday warned officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) to desist from behaviour that could drag the image of the government through the mud.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr Kamar Olowoshago, stated this during a meeting with the Zonal Commanders of LASTMA at the Secretariat, Alausa.
The meeting was convened by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Oluwatoyin Fayinka, to hint at plans by the state government to deploy a special team to manage the worsening gridlock across the state.
Fayinka listed the affected areas to include Oshodi (Charity, Arena, Brown), Cele, Ojota, Ketu/Sunami, Mile 12/Owode, Iyana Ipaja/Abeokuta, Onipanu inward Anthony, Elediye inward Palm Grove, Jakande Gate, Ikotun junction, Igando, Ikeja Underbridge, Ikorodu roundabout and Idumota.
Olowoshago, according to a statement from the ministry, tasked the LASTMA officials to be professional in their dealing with members of the public and that their interaction should be corrective rather than punitive.
He also advised the Officers to take advantage of the new insurance policy package approved for them by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
