The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) has urged Nigerian media to increase reportage of Illicit Financial Flows to educate the public on ways the government is deprived of taxes and affecting societies.
The Editor-in-Chief of Premium Times, Musikilu Mojeed, said this in Abuja Wednesday at a media engagement workshop organised in collaboration with Torchlight Group.

He said Premium Times was able to collaborate on international investigations on IFF because of its extensive report on tax evasion and money laundering by individuals and corporate entities.
“There was no action taken on Nigerians exposed for having off-shore accounts and shell companies in the Pandora Papers because journalists were not able to ask necessary questions when the culprits embarked on a media tour to clear their names.
“This was as a result of journalists not having the perquisite knowledge of how illicit financial flow operates despite evidence presented to the public,” he said.
Project Manager, Torchlight Group, Emeka Ukatu, said the project was to forestall issues driving the youth into drug trafficking and transnational crimes.
