The British Council, under its Program Managing Conflict in Nigeria, has donated COVID-19 items to the Family Support Unit of the Nigerian Police Force across three local government areas of Borno State.
Speaking during the handover of the items at the Police Headquarters Maiduguri, Team Leader of Managing Conflict in Nigeria, Aminu Buba, said the intervention is aimed at strengthening mechanisms to support the fight against sexual and gender-based violence in the state.

Aminu said the items will enhance family units in Maiduguri, Biu and Mafa divisional stations to support the fight against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in the State
“We are here to donate COVID-19 items for use in the three Family Support Units we have supported in establishing in the state, with one here in Maiduguri, the two others at Biu and Mafa Divisional Stations.
“We hope the items will add value to the services the police are providing to the people,” Buba said.
Responding, Borno State Commissioner of Police, CP Abdu Umar, thanked British Council for the gesture and said that the items will go a long way to aid the process of investigation of sexual and gender-based violence of the command.
CP Umar assured that the command will make judicious use of the items and distribute the items as specified by the British Council to achieve the desired objectives.
