A member representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hajiya Aishatu Jibril Dukku, has empowered over 300 women from the constituency with N10,000 each, as capital to start a business.
Speaking during the distribution exercise Sunday at the Dukku township stadium, the lawmaker said the empowerment programme was meant to enhance domestic businesses of women in the area.
She stated the programme would be a continuous one to ameliorate the current economic hardship bedevilling the country, which she said had pushed families into poverty and affected women more.
She commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the First Lady, Hajiya Asma’u Yahaya, for creating an enabling environment for women to make meaningful contributions in the governance of the state.
Flagging off the empowerment project, Governor Yahaya assured that his administration would prioritise Dukku and Nafada local government areas in the execution of projects, especially those that have to do with the provision of potable water.
The wife of the governor, Asma’u Yahaya stated that the empowerment will go a long way in alleviating the problems faced by women on the home front considering their position as homemakers and nation builders.
