The newly installed Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, has vowed never to betray the trust of the people of Ibadanland.
Balogun, who was installed the 42nd Olubadan on Friday, spoke shortly after he received Staff of Office from the governor, Seyi Makinde.

He ascended the throne after 33 years of ascendancy protocol.
Dignitaries at the event were Vice President Yemi Osibanjo; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State; Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi; Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Olugbo of Igboland, Akinruntan Obateru and Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams.
Others include former governors Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun) and Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), Senator Teslim Folarin; Senator Kola Balogun; former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, was represented by his former deputy, Femi Pedro; former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, and his wife, Mutia; and a host of notable Nigerians from the Northern part of the country.
Speaking at the event, the state governor said he was happy that the people of Ibadanland were still maintaining the age-long tradition of Ibadanland which started since the 1850s.
“I have always taken a stand for the integrity of our traditional systems, and so I am especially delighted that today, Friday, March 11, 2022, the sanctity of the emergence of this century-old dynasty has been restored,” he said.
