On November 18, 1981, the singing twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye were born into the family of Mrs Josephine Okoye and Pa Moses Okoye in Anambra. The twins had other siblings named; Jude, Mary, Tony, Lilian and Ifeanyi Okoye.

Identifying music and dance as their passion, they formed an acapella quartet called “MMMPP” (M Clef a.k.a. Itemoh, Michael, Melvin, Peter and Paul).

Later on, drawing inspiration from their music idol, Michael Jackson, they began to ‘break dance’ then formed the group called “Smooth Criminals” in 1997.

Their artistic talent and precise dance routine soon made them a household name in Jos, where they performed at school functions and other occasions.

Moreso, being identical twins endeared them to their fans. Strategically, the brothers played on their strengths; while Peter showcased his dancing skills, Paul ensured that the world heard his sonorous voice.

So it came as a shock to their fans when five years ago they announced that they were parting ways. An action many believed to have stemmed from a family feud.

Their break-up was so devastating to many that some fans took to their social media handles to shed tears due to their split.

After much pleas from their friends and fans, the singing duo came back together in 2021. However, before they parted ways, they had serenaded Nigerians with many hits songs, one of their best being No One Like You.

Released about 15 years ago, the highly celebrated song is deemed an evergreen record in Nigeria and a favourite among millennials.

The song was part of the duo’s commercially successful album, “Game Over,” which was released about fifteen years ago, in May 2007.

The album which was released when the artistes were one of the hottest singers in the continent had about five hit singles which include; “Do Me”, “No One Like You”, “Roll It”, “More Than A Friend” and “Ifunanya”.

Unarguably, the song was one of the most successful on the album. Not only did it become an anthem of some sort, but it also topped charts and stayed at the number 1 spot of music countdown shows in the country for many weeks.

Also, No One Like You had a special mention in Forbes’s article titled “40 Most Powerful Celebrities in Africa. The article noted that the song had garnered a remarkable number of views of over 10 million shortly after release.

The song’s music video was directed by the duo’s elder brother, Jude Engees Okoye.

The music video opens with Paul Okoye polishing a black shiny brogue shoe, wearing a wristwatch, buttoning his suit and putting on a necktie, as a lady dressed in a white wedding dress doing makeup before a mirror, apparently ready for her D-Day.

With the commercial success of the song, it is not surprising that the record did not only become one of the biggest hits of the year but it went ahead to become the signature of Nigerian wedding parties all over the country due to the wedding setting of the music video, the deeply moving romantic lyrics, and the rhythm of the beats that were perfect for energising couples during wedding events.

So far, since the music video was released officially on Youtube on May 28, 2011, it has garnered about 30,582,758 views.
