The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, yesterday condoled with the family and friends of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Joseph Egbunike.
Acting Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, said Egbunike, who was in charge of the South East, died after a brief illness.

The IGP, according to the statement, described the deceased as a dedicated and seasoned police officer who served the nation meritoriously in various capacities.
Baba he was an officer with finesse and commitment to intellectual development and was instrumental to the achievements of the giant strides within the police architecture.
Egbunike had, before his appointment as DIG in 2020, headed the Force Finance Department and was subsequently deployed to head FCID.
